Pumkins for Maja Design

Hello Maja friends!

Today is the day of the year where especially the children have a lot of fun.

I'm not the greatest Halloween fan but I love the mystical, imaginative side of it.
Dimly light, swathes of mist envelope the landscape, glowing pumpkins in warm colors and not very serious stories, but always associated with a lot of fun.

It is also the main harvest time of pumpkins in my garden,
you can cook wonderful dishes and soups
made out of pumpkins or use them just for decoration or make a pumpkin cutting event
for family and friends.

I used the paper sheet ' The colours of fall'
from the paper collection 'Walking in the forest'
as background.

The beautiful green shades together with
the delicate old trees were very suitable
for my autumn mixed media layout.
The background brings the warm colors of the pumpkins to light.

Happy Halloween!

Time together

Hello friends,

It's time for a new inspiration summer layout.
I love to use structure paper and try out new ideas.
I had some leftovers from a white wallpaper and thought, a beautiful texture,
can wallpaper be inked in?, which color is suitable?

I used a piece of wallpaper in the centre of my maritim layout,
a perfect addition for me to the beautiful papers from Maja Design.

more details can you find
here

I tried with Glimmer Mist from Tatterd Angels and I must say, it's a wonderful amazing effect, because it doesn't spread evenly and the end result will be very natural.

I used also some cutting dies from Joy craft (waves, kelp) and added some
handmade embellishmets made with molds and modelling clay.

I wish you a wonderful summertime!

Relaxed days

Hello friends!

Today a new layout as memory on wonderful, relaxed days by the sea. It's very hot here and I wish I could be there now. So it was a pleasure for me to think on the refreshing sea breeze, clear air and restful moments and tranquillity

I was inspired from the wonderful blue shade from the paper sheet 1934 (Vintage Summer Basics), the right colour and background and absolutely suitable to my photo from our sunshine dog 'Filou'.
I also used some chipboards (Scrap FX, Blue Fern Studios) cutting dies (Joy Craft), background stamps(49 and Market) and very importantly for me shells, a natural starfish, baltic sea sand and a wooden seahorse. I love it to use such natural products
then it feels like you're there yourself.

My teamies at Maja Design have come up with many

Gift idea with Maja Design

Hello friends!

Soon is Mother's Day and I want to give a little attention to my mother. I created a mixed media frame in a delicate shabby chic look.

I used a simply frame as basic. Firstly I made some ornaments with the help of moulds and air drying modeling clay. These were glued to the frame with heavy gel medium, I added some metallic sticker too.
Then I painted everything over with Chalky Finish 'Vintage' paint.
Now put some heavy white gesso over the embellishments to bring out the texture and details on the frame.

more details can you find here

I've always loved the combination of these colours and the beautiful 'Celebration' paper is probably my favourite in the stash. Cut to fit and complemented with a metal frame from Prima and some blooms, the new frame in altered art was finished.

Suitable to this frame I made two wooden handpainted candle holds with her favourite flowers
and a irish crochet doily.

Enjoying Outdoors - Tutorial with Maja Design

Hello creative friends!

Today I want to explain how you can create a vintage romance layout
with an altered 3D frame as your central focal point.

I create a very simple layout because the paper alone gives all the magic effect.
I think is one of my fav in this collection 'Enjoying Outdoors' - 'Singing in the rain'.
I love the beautiful edge design and the girl on the right side and
I like people who smile when it's raining.
Times are not always easy, but I always try to make the most of it.
Take a break from the hectic everyday life and relax.

I started by creating an altered frame for my photo.
Want to see how I made this? Here I have some photos from the making.
Now to the background, first I primed with clear gesso, then I used Distress ink 'Seedless preserves'on a stencil, it's the same colour how you can find on this paper sheet.
Next, I added a Glimmer Mist Spray 'Kiwi' from Tattered Angels
to the background arround the area of the photo.

then I use two die cuts to add more dimension
(Wordlet 'Do what you love' and 'Girl under umbrella')
with papers from 'Vintage Romance'.
Afterwards I choose some embellishments to decorate this romance layout,
for instance from Prima Marketing (garden gates, butterfly), flowers, lace, fabric leftovers,
 water drops, little resin flowers.
I builded a small cluster on the right side under the photo.

suitable to the titel 'singing in the rain' I added some pearl drops
and another umbrella from a die cut, as well as a clockface
from the 'No. XVI' (Vintage Autumn Basics) above with a glass cabochon.
The 'Welcome' sign is a photo cutout with a underlaid folder music paper sheet.

3D look

This project was so much fun to create and I love the 3D effect that you can build up.
Questions??? you're welcome :-)!
I hope my project can give you some inspiration for your work with Maja Design papers.
What is your favourite paper sheet?

Happy crafting!

Maja Design - When the sun is shining

Welcome!

I'm back with a new springtime layout.
After a very long cold period, it finally gets warmer and the daffodils in my garden start to bloom. I love this time, finally, more sun shines again and gives hope for new life. There is a lot to do in the garden right now, but you should also let all five go straight and just enjoy this short time.

This time I used a monochrome paper from Maja Design 'Shades of Celebration' as background, I love this neutral papers because you will so many opportunities to create a selfmade mixed media background.

I used a brick stencil with white gesso, old music paper sheets, stamps, leftovers from craft paper,  Glimmer Mist Spray (Sunflower) from Tattered Angels, Distress Ink Stain from Ranger, paper frames from La Blanche and wonderful flowers from 49 and Market.

some details

I hope you like this little spring layout inspiration
with monochrome paper,
I will return on 18th of April with a
Tutorial :-)

I wish you a beautiful Springtime!

Where are the bunnies hidden?!

Hello friends!

We are still waiting for spring, maybe the easter bunny will bring it along :-)
Let's hope for the best!

I used the wonderful latest 'Celebration' collection from Maja Design
for this romantic vintage layout.
Three rabbits hid on this spring project, have you already discovered her?
 Maybe there are four ;-)?

I love the delicate colours on this sheets, absolutely right for me to create a springtime layout with a lot of things which make this season so beautiful.

Maja Design - Waiting for Spring

Hello friends!

It's March now and everyone is waiting for spring because we have had enough of the snow and coldness. As the snow slowly melts and patches of green start to show, a whole
new world unfolds around you, offering a nature experience of a different kind.
As soon as the days start to draw out again shoots begin to show everywhere:
the first to peek through the soil are the snowdrops, daffodils and crocuses.
I was able to discover them in my garden before winter came back.
But what is one of my favorite sayings?

Now matter how long the winter
Spring is sure to follow!

So I was inspired to make a springtime layout with some paper sheets
from the beautiful collection 'Vintage Romance'
together with some stamps, cutting dies (letters, circles, branches, frames, butterflies, tags, leaves),
lace, feathers, Art stones, old note paper, Distress inks,
a small book page from La Blanche
and a little paper doll from Tim Holtz.

some details

the background paper 'When I saw you' has so wonderful delicate green stripes,
very subtly and suitable for beginning of spring

some little hearts in light green were a perfect addition
and I used this paper together with a lot of various cutting dies
oh, the word SUN is hidden on the right side beside
this sweet photo
it's no wonder, or?!

is like a message to us, that we have to go on and don't leave our way
to make the sun shine on us again

Have a beautiful time!

Maja Design - A beautiful evening

Welcome Maja Friends!

I’m also still creating with our latest amazing 'Celebration' collection. As I saw this elegant dancing pair I thought on our annual SemperOperaball in Dresden. It's a very special and magic event.

'Despite low temperatures, thousands of people will take to the theatre square in front of the Semper Opera House to celebrate the Semper Open Air Ball. While  guests watch the gala programme inside, up to 15,000 partygoers will be singing and dancing outside in front of the opera house. In rain, freezing temperatures or under starlit skies – the Semper Open Air Ball transforms the square into the world's largest dance floor for the locals and guests.'

Therefore I was inspired to make a home decoration piece, it's a cloche in romantic vintage style.

How you can see you will need not so much materials, main thing is the paper sheet 'Ballroom dancing', old music paper, Distress inks and some embellishments how like flowers, lace, feathers and what do you want.

I used as basic a star from a cutting die.  After I cut out the pair, I curved the motif with a knitting needle and folded the feets to glue them on. The paper from Maja Design is so stable that it stands alone, but you can stick to support a few more blooms from behind against it.
Now you just need to stick the decoration on.

I rolled up the notebook paper, distressed the edges and created some paper sticks.

I highlighted some places with Stickles 'Baby Blue' from Ranger.

... and your new eyecatcher  is ready :-)
